With soft warm light spreading, the brand new workpiece Vulture came by its flying feathers with faith and goodwill, conveying its love to all through the brightness in the dark.
Discovered the immanence of vulture’s purity and kindness toward the earth, Designer Meiric wishes to show people a different perspective, a bright side of this endangered species, which was considered a tough and aggressive creature in the past.
Handicrafts of mouth-blown glass
The beak-like lampshade is hand-blown by craftsmen into a smooth curve that emits a soft warm light and creates a beautiful view in the house.
Harmony of arch-body
The arch-body looks like the vulture with its wings folded, either calm and peaceful, which echoes with the smooth lampshades.

P4 inherits the classic “crossbar” that turns the light smoothly from linear to cross, gathering our beloved under warm light, with even more delicate and modern arch-body. You are welcome to adjust it whenever you like, easily meet the lighting needs of different scenarios. (L: up to 135cm)

P2 comes to a special “Umbrella structure”, it allows changing the width of the light easily by pulling up or down, which creates more possibilities of using light more than imagination. (span: 84cm-110cm)

Taking a deep breath, a craftsman is blowing air into molten glass. By spinning the blowpipe with their sophisticated hands, a piece of design is well shaped in a minute. This is a very moment destining a glass to be done or gone.
Being time-honored workmanship, glass is one of the favorite materials for the artists. Countless enchanting and diverse objects ranging from glassware to artworks were created of its fluidity and plasticity since B.C. People are fascinated particularly by how the light and shadow refractions play with it. Today, we take on a journey to mouth-blown glasses presented by SEEDDESIGN.
Hand-Blown Glass
Most of SEEDDESIGN’s glass is handmade, mouth-blown by skilled craftsmen. Standing by the hot furnace, the glassblowers dip the red molten glass up to 1200 ℃ with a long steel pipe and move to the mold immediately. They were taught by experience about how much molten to be dipped to make the desired shape.
They start to blow air into the glass and spin the pipe speedily and steadily with hands at the same time to keep the thickness of glass as equivalent as it can. On the other side of the pipe, the glass bubble grows bigger and bigger until it fills up the mold.
The holder opens the mold, cuts off the glass from the pipe and moves it into the tempering oven for cooling down slowly to increase the toughness and avoid hidden cracks of glass. After fine polishing operated in-house exclusively by SEEDDESIGN, a glass of lamp is born.
Since the glasses are made by hands, tiny bubbles, spinning marks therefore exist. None of them weighs 100% the same to one another, instead, these guarantee the natures of mouth-blown glass that every piece of work is unique and irreplaceable.

Colored Glass
When a transparent glass is done in one move, a colored lamp glass takes multiple jobs with 3 to 5 layers which is a big challenge to craftsmen. After a layer of transparency is based, the glassblower dips with molten opaque glass all over top of the base, puts into the mold, and blow air into glass again.

Opal glass will be done in three layers, while other colors take five. Usually the inner and outermost layers are transparent that hard enough to protect the color inside. When you gaze at the edge of colored glasses, the opal and the color would be sandwiched in 3 layers of transparent glass.
The colored glass provided by SEEDDESIGN is not painted, but chemical results mixed with different metallic elements. It turns the light into ambiences, each piece differs from one another and does not fade over time.

Sand-Blasted Glass
Sand-blasted glass is one of the features of SEEDDESIGN. It presents the translucency in between clear and opal glass. The process of glass being gently scarred by sand could only be done purely by experienced hands. Light becomes softer, glare-free, and gradient like the sunrise in misty mountains.

Designer Meiric always cherishes and adores endangered species of the world, especially birds. Vulture was one of a kind that inspired him to infuse the spirit in his masterpiece. With a different perspective, he discovered the immanence of its purity and goodwill toward the earth.
MOAI

Illuminated MOAI provides an atmospheric, ambient glow as light moves through the sphere and bounces off the clear glass shade creating a unique egg-shaped reflection. Silhouetted reminiscent of the stone statues of Easter Island, the MOAI is dynamic no matter it is on or off.

FUJI

Impressed by respect and love for FUJI mountain in Japanese culture, our designer poetically characterized the FUJI. To express the mild impression, she utilizes a spherical opal glass to interpret the rising sun.
LAITO OPAL

In keeping with the Laito series vintage heritage the Laito Opal adds softness to the classic, streamlined shape, evoking a subdued glow of years gone by. It can be perfectly positioned for your task at hand. As with the rest of the Laito series aesthetic is never compromised by function.

MIST

Centuries ago, many Chinese poets composed beautiful poems inspired by intriguing mountainous sceneries. When standing on a mountaintop, people seem to be close enough to be able to touch the clouds with their fingertips and feel the mists against their faces. In dedication to those inspiring poems, we’ve created MIST in hopes to capture that very moment.

Thanks to the improvement of LED performance, the era of glass lamp comes back of the high color rendering of light. Through the clear and opal glass, light emits brightness with hazy warmness, while the colored ones paint the rooms with a sense of ritual or nostalgia. Choose one favorite glass lamp, enjoy the moment with your magic beloveds.
Have you ever experienced eyes fatigue and blur after sitting under a pendant lamp for a while? This short symptom of glare is probably caused by improper use of lighting such as wrong hanging height, or poor lamp shade design which does not filter the extra light into our eyes.
The ideal height of hanging lightings
Most dining tables are 75-80 cm height. To prevent the eye discomfort of sitting by the table, the ideal height for hanging lamp is around 70-90 cm from the top of table to the bottom of lampshade, while a slight difference is allowed at user’s convenience and comfort.
For example, for families with small children can benefit more from hanging 70 cm due to their sight lower than adults; hanging over 90 cm is more suitable for tall family members to avoid head collisions during meals and other activities around table.

Aesthetics concerns of spaces
Apart from the viewpoint of optics in practice, our aim in choosing a lamp is no doubt pursuing an enchanting home. A comprehensive study including the appearance of the lamp, environment of installation, or measures of the space is significant to users. Therefore, consulting with professionals like your interior, lighting designer or lighting shop will be a good choice when undertaking your lighting plan.

CHINA 2004 → CHINA LED 2017
CHINA debuted in 2004. At the time, it instantly became one of SEEDDESIGN’s iconic designs by its classic shape and unique DJ dimmer.
As time goes by, the era of the halogen bulb is ending, and the LED generation is following with much better performance than ever. CHINA was re-born as an LED version, it upgraded with slimmer shape, sleek texture and high CRI, and still, it reserved the key feature of the DJ dimmer base. That’s how it returned with grace and rich immanence.
JOJO 1994 → JOJO LED 2016
Inspired by the movement of YO-YO, JOJO showed up in 1994 with the ability to adjust the height, which equipped an impressive balance device. Since then, it has been the most playful design in the fairs.
Until 2016, we developed a new version. Besides the benefits of low wattage increasing safety and durability, JOJO LED was even infused the designer’s original idea, redesigned the counterweight to rounding shape with glossy appearance as embellishment, which symbolizes the joy and blessing for people.
HERCULES 2004 → 2017
2004, a tribute to the legendary character of Greek mythology, HERCULES appeared. Carrying strength and courage, metaphorically, the curving body shows its humbleness, which reveals the extraordinary temperament in a low-key manner.
2017, designer White brought us fresh air. Apart from the new LED dimming function, she turned the sharp line into softer that conveying the toughness and beauty. Even more, the brand new matching color of classic black and metal successfully catches people’s eyes, which states its elegant and bold aesthetic propositions, and was honored to win the 2019 German Design Award.
DODO 2013 → DOBI 2015
DODO the birds’ appearance is comical yet beautiful. Inspired by his whimsical body shape, DODO is undoubtedly the best demonstration of natural simplicity. DODO attracted a lot of attention after launch, since it can fit any style in the modern world.
Catering to smaller scaled spaces, the DOBI offers a more petite version of the ever so popular DODO. For the first time to use the hit color black + copper, white + brass to the lamp design. Let chic DOBI accompany you to discover the little surprise in your life.
LALU 2005 → LALU+ P 2014 → RE-LALU 2017
“Lalu” is a holy island in the legend of one of the Taiwanese aborigines–Thao. It symbolized the residence of the ancestors’ spirits. Back to 2005, LALU comes with the natural granite base and mouth-blown glass, the combination plays harmony between nature and humanity art.
Throughout years of being loved, We’ve reinterpreted this charming collection with a contemporary twist. The LALU+ pendant became a big hit when it was launched in 2014. Keeping up with the trends in home furnishing and accessories, this time it comes with a metallic style. The linear fixture allows people to rotate it into a cross or straight formation.
2017, the Re-Lalu table lamp consists of metal, wood, glass, three different materials. And cleverly embedded the switch on the top of the light pole, keep the original image and achieve a more neat style. Those evolutions provoke our curiosity. We can’t help but look forward to it: what will it look like next time and will it surprise us again?

Inspired by star trails in the night sky, SOL speaks for the design of minimalism through elaborated consideration and production. Now the whole family is available in pendant, desk, wall, and floor bow lamp. The ring-like luminaire and versatility allow people to create new scenes in different corners.
Embedded with a translucent circular screen, the luminaire of SOL diffuses light softly. The collection is either compatible with dimming system or equipped with touch or touchless dimmer, rendering it possible for you to re-create your own personal sunrise and sunset.

Meet the SOL bow lamp, the ring-shaped lampshade floats weightlessly on the slim carbon fiber body. With an arched arm that cantilevers outward, allowing for movement both around and below, it grounded by a well-balanced base, leading to the lamp designed for grace and stability.
Form follows function：SOL desk and wall lamp
Translate SOL’s simple yet eye catching shape into desk and wall lamp. Additional stepless dimming function allows SOL desk and wall lamp providing enough light when reading and writing, or you can even adjust the light angle towards the wall to form a soft, ambient light.

We are glad to share our joy with all of our friends that SEED just held a 2020 new launch party in the late autumn season, so much laughter and fun we had with local interior designers at that afternoon. Some of the new collections are ready to launch, while others will be completed soon in the coming year. We look forward to your feedback!
Our chief creative officer Meiric welcomed over a hundred of industry partners with his warm-hearted singing by the song “can’t help falling in love’’, showing how much passion and persistent he deeply has in Design.

While saying goodbye, we prepared a special gift to all attendances; a kind of Taiwanese tea called “Honey Scented Black Tea” from the organic farm; the fragrant and sweet taste just like we gathered inspiration and tech efforts in a year then eventually released final designs in the end.
SIRCLE, a merged word symbolizes the rules and compromise spoken in the philosophy of the East. Designer Li, Hui Lun creates a series of lighting in pursuit of an art with circle and square, a balance between the fixed and flexible.

Traveling through the opalescent glass, the fine quality light (CRI>90) performs a gentle warm white luminance, serenely spreading all over like a floating moonlight. When the bulb life ends, replacement is easy to be done by removing the glass shade.
SIRCLE was inspired from a simple idea of shapes, and shaped into a poetic design step by step. It is a poem uncompleted with a page for anyone to write in their own way. It could be elegant like a fair lady, or a comedy plays in Saturday night with family. The rules is limited yet the play of life is your imagination.

The final stop of our tour left a superb ending, we brought the moonlight into Design China Beijing celebrating the significant Chinese holiday “Moon Festival”.
Following the different attribute of each design, what beneath the light and shadow is full of fun and endless ingenuity, forming the ideas to unique performances.
